Spring Creek Community School (SCCS) in Whistler, BC is undergoing a transformation.
This dated school yard is in a cold and dark bench of the Spring Creek neighbourhood of Whistler and students, teachers and parents have a desire to upgrade the park with safer and more efficient circulation patterns at the same time encouraging natural play and exploration.
The new school yard will strive to encourage art, science and student interaction in multiple ways that will include quiet reflection as much as gross motor play and utilizing ‘loose parts’ and natural climbing elements. Public participation includes teachers and parent groups as well as the student body in charrette exercises.
